What axles are these?

A little while ago I bought an 85 front axle for a slow build Im just getting started on. It was a great deal locally, the guy was just advertising the housing, but he asked me if I was interested in some other bits, like some old school crossover steering, stock inners axles and birfs, and knuckles along with the housing for a few dollars more. I figured for spares and stuff, what the heck, so I said yes. It was pretty dark when I picked everything up and I was mostly interested in the condition of the housing, the extra parts were just that, extra, so I didn't pay them much attention.

Fast forward to this weekend, I started cleaning things up and getting ready to figure out what I need for this project. as I cleared out the copious amounts for dirt and grease and leaves from the knuckle balls I noticed some damage from broken birfields, nothing serious, but it got me thinking; "If they broke birfs in this axle then they had to replace them, and maybe they upgraded..?" Hmmm? So I grabbed the supposed stock axles and cleaned them up. Lo and behold they are not stock. And since the previous owner obviously thought they were, I cant ask him. So anybody know what I've got here? I'm pretty sure the inner shafts are stock, but the birfs are stamped TG. I'm just wondering if I got lucky and got some 27 spline chro-moly birfs, or maybe the old "better than stock" ones TG used to sell. I honestly don't know enough to know what I'm looking at, aside from the obvious branding...

Count the splines where the inner shaft goes into the bell. That will tell you if they are 27 vs 30 spline.

Is there a item number or anything stamped into the inner shaft?

Its all about the parts you break, and the friends you make.

They are 27's for sure. The axle tapers down and all that. It makes me think the inners are in fact stock.

The birfields themselves only have the TG branding shown in the pics, no numbers or anything.

The roundforge site has some awesome info about what is available. older aftermarket parts can be a bit of a crap shoot when you weren't the one who bought them...
