86 turbo removal question

Hi everyone,
I'm getting ready to remove the turbo from my 86. The shop guides all indicate that the way to do this is to remove the turbo along with the exhaust manifold.
Is is possible to remove the turbo from underneath and leave the manifold in place?
Thanks!

Yes. There are just 4 bolts you need to undo that attach the tubo to the manifold. Also need to take off the intake pipe, exhaust downpipe, water feed and drain, and the oil feed and drain. All easy to do, just need to figure out a combination of sockets and wrenches to get to all the bolts.
