SR5 transplant

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a 4r with a 4y-c in it, with rough panels from some rough offloading and haggard interior, but the price was right.

I managed to pick up a an SR5 with a 2L diesel that I can use all the panels and 9p% of the interior.

What I'm wondering is it possible to transplant the sR5 goodies into my other 4r? Things like the rev gauges, inclometer, rewiper etc.

Obviously I have all the wiring in the parts car, but electronics is where I struggle hard. Is it as simple as just pull the loom and plug it in again?

Thanks in advance

i think you would be good to go if you have both harnesses.
Only issue i think you might run into is if the other 4Runner is a gas where your donor is diesel, might be some harness issues where it comes to using the tach etc

Yeah thats the bit that concerns me too.

I'm assuming there would be some way to do it but not real sure, might actually have to pay someone haha

The cost of labour for the physical work as well as the R&D required for that would be astronomical. Id imagine the tech would want to be paid strait time as opposed to flat rate, which can add up very quick.
If you have both vehicles, and the time to strip them both down and transfer harnesses and driveline components, anything is possible. You just gotta make sure you have good schematics for both vehicles, and lots of different coloured highlighters and tape to flag and separate the harnesses (that need to be integrated together), then get some good quality solder and heat shrink, and then merge the beast and foul as one!
