Green button just below cigarette lighter purpose? 1989 4 runner

Hello all, enjoying my 1989 4 runner 5 speed. I cannot find an answer in the manual. There is a green button that is just below the cigarette lighter just above the radio. It has an - symbol and o symbol. It lights up, but not on dash or anything. Its horizontal and not vertical..... Anyone know what it is, I can try to post picture. Thanks!!!

on first gens there were two knock outs for switches, if it was stock most of them went on the left side of the console. Is yours on the left or right side? since you say just below the cigarette lighter I am thinking right side and therefore some aftermarket thing done by a previous owner.
Any extra lights, amps or other non stock crap added by a previous owner?

in a 1st gen w/auto and power antenna, this is what occupies the two slots:

at right, the antenna switch

at left, the o/d indicator light
