Good write up I used How to install A/C in a 1st Gen Pickup/4Runner | IH8MUD Forum

Tons of research in toyota forums, and the fsm

Notes
A/C amplifier and amplifier harnes need to come from your model year. There's differences in wiring harness that connect to truck (see ih8 mud link) and the amplifiers are different per fsm ewd's (cross reference 86 to 87)

Receiver drier "in" direction needs to have the "in" port connected to hardline that goes to condenser not the hardline to Evaporator

The Autozone sure bilt r12 conversion fittings #lx vc12 the high pressure side was too deep to depress Schrader valve to charge.

Apparently all these trucks are wired for A/C. I found the ac vsv plug wire under upper intake. Follow the vsv wiring on top of valve cover toward intake and it will be taped up or in my case hanging down. Learned this from mmccul3797.

Add oil to components per fsm.

I could have saved some money and reused Evaporator and condenser but figured I went this far might as well get new. I could have reused other components like idler pulley vsv idle up etc to save money. Buying the stuff used gave me a lot of the hardware need to install which made life easier since it all went in oem locations. I purchased this truck with what looked to be a home made ac system that used a hodge podge of parts and didn't work. Trying to fix is what lead me on this rabbit hole and luckily I found light

No expert but learned a ton and more than happy to share. Hope this helps
