2nd Gen Factory Tire Carrier and Grill Guard Retrofit Questions

Hi all,

I'm looking to put some accessories on my '90 4runner. Things I want are the factory tire swing carrier that was offered on some '90-'91 models and a front grill guard.

For the tire carrier - I know that the tailgate is different and there is an internal support bracket. Some people have been able to add on the tire carrier with fab work. I was wondering if I could just buy a donor vehicle that came with the tire carrier, swap the tailgates, transfer the internal bracket, and call it a day.

For the front grill guard, I saw this 2nd gen for sale on FB marketplace.

After doing some digging, I believe the guard to be a WAAG bar that was a factory/dealer option for the 80series Land Cruisers. Would anyone be able to confirm this, and if it would bolt right on? I don't mind getting some fab work done to fit the grill guard either.

Thanks!

If you could find a donor vehicle with the factory tire carrier that would be the way to go.

As for a front grill guard, I don't recall anything factory other than a winch/bumper package in the early 80's, which was rare. Anything else was dealer or owner installed IIRC.
