To turn off the alarm when reconnecting the battery on your '95 4Runner, locate the alarm's reset or override switch, which is often found under the dash near the driver's side. If your alarm has a key fob, use the unlock button immediately after reconnecting the battery. Alternatively, turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine, then cycle it off and back on a few times. If none of these work, disconnect the alarm's fuse or wire harness temporarily to silence it. Reconnecting the alarm system might require resetting it after.
