Kill Switch

Was wondering if anyone has wired one up on a 2nd gen SR5 V6, and how exactly they wired it. I have put kill switches in all my cars, but haven't wired one into my runner yet.

Anyone have some clever ideas?

Is your runner a 5speed or auto? If its std. trans. the clutch switch is the easiest way I know of to install a kill switch.

There is a switch that is mounted on the clutch pedal bracket that hits the clutch pedal. This prevents the truck from turning over unless the clutch is depressed. To varify you found the correct wires you can un-plug the switch and the truck shouldn't crank over. Then cut one of the wires and wire both sides of the cut wires to a hidden toggle switch.

Just make sure that your t4r doesn't have the clutch switch bypass button. My 92 has it on the far left side of the dash near the dash light dimmer. Pushing it allows the truck to be started while in gear whether the clutch is in or not. You might be able to wire the kill switch into the starter circuit though. I'm not sure how many people would think of roll starting a stolen car. Maybe the igniter circuit would be better.

Yeah, make sure you don't have a "clutch start cancel" button, my bad I thought they only used them on 84-89 4runners. If your truck has one you will need to tie in to the igniter circuit instead.
