Don,t know for sure, what it,s for but would say its after market something, my 95 does not have light there ,owners manuel does not say there should be light there.so I would say it,s for something added on,? maybe? couldbe? mightbe? Ithink? or maybe I don,t?

Thank you everybody...you are all very helpful.

There is no siren that I could find.

It doesn't really matter now...I have bigger problems!! A blown head gasket!! It has been going thru water and yesterday there was steam coming out of the exhaust! No water in the oil. My husband is calling the dealership I got it from. We will see how they stand by their vehicles.

Sorry ,to hear about your 4 runner,I too just bougth my 4runner about 3 wks ago, mine is also a 95 3.0 I had read about the H.G. recall so before I bougth it I went to local TOY. dealer to check if my runner was on recall list for H.G. they ran vin# and said it was not on list . You might want to have TOY. dealer run your vin. and if it is on recall list TOY. will pay to fix. Let us know how it turns out . Good Luck BY the BY how many mi. were on your runner. mine has115450. :arrow:

I will be contacting Toyota today to find out. Mine has 167000 miles.

I checked the recall list at alldata.com

My year seems to be covered but will call with my VIN #.

hey


i have the exact same light above my panel dimmer

there should be a switch below where the paneling goes in

feel down there for a thin stick switch it turns the alarm on and off for me ( sometimes)

my alarm was pretty crappy it worked for like the first 6 months i had the car (bought it used) then it started to go crazy and made a retard sounding alarm

now it doesnt work anymore


sometimes when i turn the switch on the light doesnt go off and other times it does

Just an update....I got the blown head gasket fixed. We changed the timing belt while it was torn down.

The dealer paid for everything! It was obviously blown when I got it. The radiator was a mess so I replaced it too.

The mechanic said the ALARM does work, it went off on him a couple of times. LOL It has never went off on me.

I do have a switch as mentioned in the previous post, but haven't tried to switch it yet.

So all is well and I am back on the road....

Didn't read all the threads someone else may have said this, but my 94 4runner has a factry installed alarm with the led in that exact place. Look down by yor left foot, somewhere on that kick panel should be a toggle switch if it is the factory alarm. I went to my dealer and got a new alrm and lock remote for $55.

i need to get a new alarm

my remote doesnt work

and sometimes the alarm goes off randomly when i mess withthe switch (i think it works as a kill switch also)
