Did you originally have the 3.0 in it? If so, how big of a difference in performance/power is the 3.4?

Stepped up to 35s (from 33s) yesterday, and went out to the dunes in Pismo today. Tires seem great so far, and the dunes driving was fun, never done that before!

Originally it was a 3.0 with an auto, now it's a 3.4 with a 5 speed. Night and day difference with the added torque and HP. Truck gets up to speed quick and comfortably holds it on the highway without having to down shift. A no brainer swap if you have the time. You can snag a 3.4 for any junk yard for $200 and spend another $300 freshening it up and she'll run forever.

That is the swap I want to do also. I think the Toyota axles will hold up to V8 power. Plenty around if you do break one.

The new 4Runners have 280 HP and the axles appear the same size so I doubt you will break one.

Went skiing this week. Parked myself next to a Hilux with the same 2LT diesel engine.

Good looking rig! I saw one of your old posts mentioning your CB antenna. Where did you get it and how well does it work? TIA

Picked it up from local truck stop. They are packed full of CB goodies.
I will do a v2 soon, the antenna isnít long enough to get over the roof rack so reception is spotty when Iím leading. I like the fact that it comes out of the factory radio antenna hole for the aesthetics but I worry it will catch a tree and whip into the windshield. More than likely moving it to the roof and Iíll use its current spot for the snorkel. (5vz intake is on the passenger side)
