Nerf Bars for a 1st Gen
Hey all, I'm sure this topic has been beat to death, but I can't find for the life of me any nerf bars for the 1st Gen 4Runners. Supposedly Smittybilt use to make them, but they are out of the biz now. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes the round nerf bars/ bumpers/side step bars for the 1st gens?
Also, someone told me that they thought the bars for 2nd gens should match up with the 1st gens if you can find those. Can anyone verify this? I know I had chrome bars on my previous 1st Gen 4runner, wish I knew how I got them years ago.
Thanks in advance

Let me know if you want to buy these. They are not beat up or hardly scratched. I bought them from NWOR several years ago. This 4Runner is getting sliders in a few weeks and these nerf bars are coming off. They bolt on.

Actually, Northwest Off-Road Specialties sells the tubular bumpers for first gens. Front, rear and the round nerf bars. They're in my catalog - just not on the website.
www.northwestoffroad.com
or call
1-360-676-1200
They don't appear to have an 800 number. I hope this helps!

Hey, I might be interested in them, but I'm looking for chrome ones ideally. How much do you want for them? You can PM me with the details.
thanks

Good luck finding new nerf bars for a 1st gen. A little less than two years I wanted to get a pair for my 90. Had to look all over, called many places before getting what must have been one of the last available set that would fit. Finally got Wildcat Flash chromes from Rocky Mountain Suspension.
They just don't make them for older trucks anymore.

Nerf Bars
I hope you found your Nerf Bars. I recently bought an 86 from neighbor who bought new in 86. The tan 85 on this thread is beautiful and has the same wheels as mine. never seen those on another. I am also looking for a set of Nerf Bars too. Thanks,

12 year old thread, good luck finding nerf bars, you are probably gonna find a set of rock sliders easier. More practical than a nerf bar

If local for pick up (southern Oregon) I would sell mine (or actually just trade for stock or fitting front bumper, guess I kind of need one for test drives). Needs a bit of clean up, front and sides. My 1st gen is 3rd in line for projects and those nerf bars will not make it to the final stage.

Hey guys, I’m looking for rock sliders or an off-road version of a side step for a SECOND GEN. The 95 side step is hideous but if you take it off you see the gas tank and skid plates from the side which don’t look great either. Like the poster, I’ve had no luck finding products for my old 4runner. Any help is appreciated.

Way late to the party.
I have a pair of these chrome nerf bars with a bolt on tread plate buried in the garage some where.
Think they came from Northwest offroad back 1993 or '94.
Had them on a 1992 t4r.
They put dents in your rocker if you use them offroad, unlike a slider.
Purely cosmetic... you can stand on them for roof access.
I can dig them out if anyone wants.
