switch for tailgate window
The switch for my tailgate window will lower the window but not raise it. I have to raise the window with my key from outside. Where is a cheap place to buy something like this? Is there a favored used part site around (or new if reasonable)? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that the switches are all basically the same from 1990 through 1995. If you post a picture of your switch than I can compare it to my switch. I have a 1992 and I had a 1990 before that.

Someone suggested it could be the relay. The window goes down with the switch, but won't go up. It will go up and down no prob with the key in the tailgate. Can anyone tell me for sure? Seems to me, if it is the relay, it wouldn't go up with the key either. Make sense?

switch
Good question. My window goes up with the console switch and the tailgate swith. It will not go down either way. My tailgate swith does not have continuity in the down position though, so I really can't help you though. Sorry.

I had the same problem with my '87. Turned out to be the relay box (behind the drivers door under the sliding window). I took it apart and cleaned the connectors and re-soldered some of the relays. Works fine now.
I have a friend and his window works fine inside and out except for when using the inside switch it stops about 6 inches from the top and won't move up or down. If he uses the key outside it works fine. I haven't yet checked the relay box but that is where I am looking next as I already tried my switch on it and it made no difference.

You will have to use a test light or meter, find out if your switch
is working first, if it is then go from there. its a prosses of illimination . work your way from one end of the cuircut to the other.

rear window
Not trying to be a smartass here. My switch in the tailgate is not working as I tested the continuity and tore it apart. My question is does that affect the overall system?. If the switch is disconnected will the system work?

As per the diagram in the link, yes the window will still work
using the switch inside the truck. even if the tailgate switch is removed. hope this helps you.

Well, I picked up a switch for a '90 on ebay because the picture looked the same, but the connector was different. The wires were the same color so I cut and spliced my old connector on. Now. my tailgate key switch still works OK, but with the new ('90) switch both the up and down button raise the window and don't let the window go down. This is odd because the old ('95) switch would lower the window but not raise it, the up button didn't work at all. And No, none of the wires are touching and they are well taped. And Yes, I'm sure the wire colors are matched correctly. I'm stumped, any ideas. Maybe I don't understand how a relay works, but since the window goes up with the switch when it wouldn't before does this mean it isn't the relay? If not, what!!!

Sounds like the relay is fine but maybey you have to wire the switch a little different you will have to check continuity between
the wire that brings power in and the ones going out. red/blue =up WHT/Green =down. or ground those wires to see if the window works. thats what the diagram looks like to me you have to ground them to complete the circiut.
