Phantom battery draw

On my 86 4runner I started having what I thought were battery problems, but after having the alternator tested and buying a new battery, the problem still exists. I took my voltmeter and applied it to the positive post on the battery and the positive wire/terminal after disconnecting it and I get a reading of 12.54, which appears to be a draw from somewhere. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse block and next the drivers seat, but nothing there. There is a wire coming from the fuse block that appears to be connected to a 80A fuse labeled glow/AMI. When I disconnect that wire from the positive terminal, I get a reading of .11. I thing the draw is somewhere on the far side of the fuse block. Has anyone ever seen this and does anyone have any ideas on where to start troubleshooting the draw?
Thanks in advance,
Devin

If that's 12.54 Amps, you do have a problem.

Get yourself a wiring diagram here and start trouble shooting.

Look at everything that comes off of the AM1 fuseable link.

Is it a diesel ?

This is not a diesel, but the whole glow plug throws me for a loop. Thanks for the link. I picked up the haynes book and will start tracing tonight.
Thanks again

Just to be sure, is that 12.54 AMPS (measured on A) or 12.54 VOLTS (measures on V)?

This will make a significant difference on weather or not you have a problem. 12.54 Volts is completely normal, 12.54 Amps is definitely an issue, as that's a really high draw.

actually a 12V battery typically has about 14.5V normal so it is possible that there is a draw somewhere

The alternator outputs 14.5v to charge the battery, so you should read 14.5ish on a voltmeter when the engine is running, however the battery when the engine is off should only read 12v.
