Torsion Bar Lift/Body Lift Questions

Hey, I've tried finding the torsion bars to do a tbar crank for some lift, but I can't find them. Conventionally they're on the lower control arms, but not on mine. I see some tbar-looking-device on the upper ones, but not lower. are these the tbars? If so, where do I tighten them up to get lift? And how much do I tighten them up? Will my alignment/camber be affected?

Question 2,
during spring break I'm going to do a 1" body lift on my 87 4runner 22re. I'm going to do only 1" because I don't need to modify any lines (do I?) or hoses from the body to frame. I'm going to be using hockey pucks for the spacers. My question, is exactly what size (length, width, pitch) or bolts do I need? And how many mounts are there on each side? Does anybody have a link to a step by step photo package that could help me? Thanks for bearing with me and helping me, Jake Engel

Your tbars are on the top control arms.
Follow them back to where they join the chassis (under the front door area) and you will see a bolt head on the underside.
Some have a lock nut on top of this bolt that requires loosening before dialling up the tbars, some don't.

From memory if you turn this bolt clockwise you will raise the front suspension, turning it counter clockwise will have the opposite effect.

Getting the lift you want is trial and error, I normally start with 4 full turns of each bolt with the front wheels jacked off the ground, then lower it and check the difference. repeat until happy with new lift

It will affect you front alignment, a test drive will let you know if you need to get it realigned.

Cheers

Thank you very much Is there a ghetto way to re-align the camber? So you're saying the torsion bar lift will affect my frontwards alignment (toe in and toe out?) ? or just the vertical camber? Any Idea on length of bolts to be used with a 1 inch body lift on an 87 4runner sr5 22re?

You do realize that "cranking" the t-bars to increase ride height also results in a loss of the same amount of travel in the opposite direction (you can't get something for nothing), and makes the ride rougher.

IMO, pay the money and get the alignment done at a shop.
(I see you're in Calgary)I've had good luck with the Fountain Tire near Northland Mall (NW).

Body lifts are "cheap" enough too...pay the $$, and do it right. I've seen too many split pucks in my time. (Daystar etc)
