Head Gasket replacement

I will be replacing the head gaskets on a 95 3.0vze in December and I havebnt gone over an of the manuals yet to read up on it. I was told that I would have to remove the cam shafts in order to take the heads off. Is that true? And how much of the upper engine (ie:Plenum, Fuel rails) can come off in chunks?
Thanks
Wes

Not sure exactly what needs to be done but sure looks like you need to remove the cams to me. I had the head covers off on mine the other day because I need to do the head gasket too and it looks to me that you will need to start at the top and work down. More work then I want to do and most likely a little over my ability so I will have to pay someone to do this for me which sucks cuz its going to cost over a grand. Goodluck....

you need to start at the top and work your way down and yes the cams do need to be removed did mine not too long ago and it does take time . parts really wernt that bad though i had about three hundred in parts and about 12 hours in labor . take the time to buy a chilton guide it will take you thru it step by step with all the proper torque specs and all !! good luck

I did mine without touching the cams, the bolts can be loosened without taking out the cam.
