Common blower issue?
My blower wont work for heat or air. Is there a common issue with this I can look at first? The rear blower works just fine and I use it but of course it doesn't help with defrost and that's what really drives me up the wall. Thanks

Are you saying the blower isn't working at all? Have you checked the basics like fuses?

If not a fuse maybe the blower motor resister?
Maybe someone knows about an issue I am having or may not be having with my blower motor function….
I have a 1988 with heat and A/C the blower fan switch has 4 speeds. The first speed does nothing, the A/C indicator light comes on but, the motor does not blow any air. The 2nd to the 4th speeds blow air through the vents fine.
I changed out the blower motor resister and the blower motor still does not turn on the first speed position??? any ideas....

yeh, I checked fuses first. I didn't get that lucky. My blower doesn't work at any of the speed settings. Flow of cooling system seems fine. It'll switch between cool air and warm air, just got no blower. I think it's a wiring issue...unless it's a relay. Maybe I need to look for that.

P-Dad, could your issue be the actual control switch? Is it a slider or dial?

If the blower isn't working at any of the speed settings, it's probably not the resistor module.
If all fuses, etc are OK, maybe it's simply the blower motor.

It is a sliding switch left to right with 5 positions, off, and 4 speeds

My original 4Runner had the same problem. It was the blower motor resistor. Check Project 4Crawler for replacement instructions.

that's what I'm thinking, or a wiring prob. I checked some member provided links on heater core replacement which give a good depiction of how the whole dash is assembled. I think I should be able to find the problem as soon as I get a slow day at work. I'll post follow up when I have something beneficial to add. Many thanks to all the great members here who participate and help. Merry Christmas everyone!

I did replace the blower motor resistor with a used one but, still have the same problem, no first speed. It is possible that the blower motor resistor I got that was used has the same issue. I will just have to buy a new one and see if it fixes the problem.
Good luck Savage with your blower motor issue. Hope you did not mind, I thought I would post my blower motor problem in with your thread instead of starting a new thread about nearly the same thing

Blower gone after disconnect
Hello there friends,
My fan/blower doesn't work at all after a recent battery disconnect. I checked all fuses and they are OK. I'm thinking it has to be something with the car computer but haven't found any luck yet.
Would a zero point calibration help?

I'm posting here because I just created an account so I can't start a new thread but im having a sort of similar problem.
I replaced my blower and resistor but sometimes the air flow out of the vents is very very weak. Like you wouldn't know it's on except that you can hear the motor going strong.
The weird part is that it just randomly stops blowning, sometimes it blows real strong and then you'll be driving and the next thing you know its running but no air is coming out.
I would guess it's a clogged vent but that doesn't explain why it works intermittently.
Does anyone have any idea what could cause this?
BTW I have a 1987 4runner sr5

It could be a heater core or Air Conditioner evaporator clogged up with leaves or other debris, and/or one of the blend door / airflow doors is just swinging loose as you drive.
Do all of the airflow positions work when you move the lever (i.e. vent only, split vent/feet, feet only, spit defrost/feet, defrost only)?
Does the fresh air and recirculate lever work?
Is all of your ducting installed or is there any pieces missing?

Did you replace the blower resistor with a new one or was it used?
