Horrible fuel consumption problem!
I have an 86 4runner non turbo and I'm only getting about 150 miles per tank of gas. It has the standard 14.8 tank, so that means I'm only getting around 10 mpg. It drives perfect, and I don't have any fuel leaks. However, when I bought the truck, it didn't have a vaccum line connected to the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator like it is supposed to. I know it is used to return the unused fuel to the tank, but no where in any manual does it say where exactly to connect the other end of the vaccum line. Since It had no where to go, I spliced a 3 way into the return fuel line and connected it to that. Anybody have any info/suggestions on this, or why it is getting such bad gas mileage?
