Back Window key

OK, The back window goes up and down with the switch up front...but the back key does nothing.
Where do i start?
I tried pulling the lock cyl out and hooked it up to an ohm meter to check for continuity...doesn't look like theres any juice flowing through the thing in any key position.
How do i go about replacing it with the same key? Or does any one have any better solutions to this one?

Thanx in advance

Interesting: My '90 works fine from the key switch, tho I have to wiggle it to get the key to work to run the window up. The inside switch does not roll it down at all, and only rolls it up intermittantly.

I cleaned the inside switch, the lock-out switch and the motor contacts in the tailgate before it worked at all tho!

I was in the back door trying to get the rear defrost working. (which by the way takes forever to heat up) and I used white grease on basically all moving parts. WHAT a difference...much faster and smoother now. If your window is moving slowly I would definitley recomend this simple, cheap and fast although I'm sure temporary solution.

But still no down on the rear key switch....anybody know how to fix this?

I have a 1994 and my key you have to wiggle it sometimes to get it to work, but most of the time it works great. My switch on the inside used to work great, then one day it stopped rolling the window down. It has no problem rolling it up, but it wont roll down. Also, is it like a normal thing for the rear defroster to stop working? I opened my tailgate and the actual wires are disconected from the window.

Same back window problem

Hey, i just joined the site and was reading about the back window problems with my 94 4runner. I am having the same problem with mine accept the switch on the tailgate doesn't do anything, i have tried wiggling with nothing. Defrost doesn't work either. i am intrested in finding out what i can do as cost efficent as possible.

Mine never worked for going up, but works for going down. Haven't had time to figure that one out yet.

There are several possibilities.
Common ones are dirty switch contacts/bad switch, or a bad relay in the control module.
