adapters for my 85

i have a 85 4runner and i have 16in wheels with mt pro comp tires. which r 285/75/16. i got a good deal on them i wanted to know i have to buy spacers or adapters to push them out. because of my straight Axel. everyone was telling me not to go with spacers because it takes away from the stud threads and to go with adapters which bolts on to the studs and has its own threads. how thick should i get my adapters. i think the most they come in is 1in but what looks good and is the best for my yr. anyone have them. thank you for your reply.

Why do you need spacers?

Well I was talking to the guy at the junkyard and he was saying because I have a solid front axel that the 16in rims wouldn't fit and it would hit something forgot exactly wat and I would need spacers.. but I haven't tryed them out I jus wanted to see. If he was right and if anyone had run into that problem. I still need to put my lift on first. Jus planning ahead..

OK.
I run 1.5" spacers on the front of my rockcrawling rig to make the width of the front axle the same as the wider IFS rear axle I swapped in the back.

Have you even put the new wheels on to see if there is a problem?
