87 22R E RN won't stay running

Hello all. New to this forum and new to Toyotas. Just got a 87 4Runner and the thing won't stay running after the choke goes off. Got the Chilton's book and it very vagly covers the vacuume lines and tried switching around to see if that could be the problem. It acts like it's running very rich.

I know my way around my GMC diesel but this gasser is killing me. Any help would be great.

John

87 should be fuel injected, no choke.

Middle America agrees with east and west coast... No choke 22RE. What is "RN"?

search "cold mixture heater system" (CMH) see if that sounds like your problem.

So that is not an electric choke on the inboard side of the air intake? Man have I alot to learn about gas engines.

Thanks for the info. I'll check that lead out.

I sure wish I have a diesel to throw into the thing. Man that would be fun.
