That's a tough one. If there is any sort of size to the first generation market, I'm sure a better price can be found. If I were really in love with 1987 4Runners, though, I might buy it. He'd be more convincing if it didn't have so many miles. Like if it were more of a low mileage kept in pristine condition collector's piece.

Just a couple of year's ago a mid '80s Runner with less than 30k on the odo and was literally still factory fresh sold for around $10k so I can't see a person paying anywhere near $15k with 240k on the truck.
I think he's smoking the ickiest of the stickiest weed around.

Love it, I hope he gets it...that would be a good thing for all of us
If I was to sell mine I would ask around 8k mine has 148 on the clock and is about as close to new condition as it gets.
First gen runners are starting to go up in value, you can still buy an average rig for $1,500 but, anything that is clean and near rust free is going to cost you.

It is nice, but the 240k is a lot. I saw a few months back an 84 with 34k and all the options for that year. It was a showroom car and kept in a garage all of its life. It was up for sale for $7500. If he sells it I will be amazed.

I'm going to do some searching for that 1st gen over on yotatech but this ultra low mileage 1st gen Runner I saw was the cleanest I've sene period and never even saw rain and the undercarriage pics looked so good you could almost smell the original factory smell just looking at the pics. Had all the paperwork and goodies in the glove box too. This thing didn't have a speck of dirt anywhere on it and you couldn't even tell if it had ever been driven period.

Aside from the fact that he wants about $14,000 more than it's worth, what's the problem?

look smart
i have always said that auto trader is a place that broke people who know cars, sell to people who don't, but have the money to look like they do... i hope he gets it. craigslist on the other hand is the place where people who know cars, buy from those who don't know what they have.

How much would you guys pay for one of the same year that was only driven to keep it in shape and to get maintenance, and that never saw rain, snow, or sunshine? Basically a mint 1987.
