Call me crazy, call me stupid...

I've always been in love with the 80's Toyotas.

My first one was a 1988 Toyota Corolla when I turned 17. I tore it to pieces-I cut out the carpeting, replaced it with white shag (EVERYWHERE), painted the interior, wrecked it once, fixed it, drove it for another year then sold it before I left for college. It drove like a bat out of hell.

Second vehicle was a 1980 Mercedes diesel. Drove like a champ, put 50k on it in three years. Awesome car, sold it between 450k-500k. Put many miles on it driving loaded up with friends at college in Pensacola (13 was the record). Sold it while I was at Camp Geiger in 2008. Drove like a bat out of hell.

Third vehicle was a 1989 Toyota Camry Station wagon which I am presently driving. 114k now, runs like a champ but needs a fair bit of front end work.

My next Vehicle will be a 2011 Toyota Tacoma, access cab, 4x4 4cyl 5spd SR5.

My goal this next year is to find an 80's Toyota 4runner or truck in decent shape and tear it down to the frame...and rebuild it from the ground up. Not as a rock climber or off road machine, but as a vehicle to keep in the garage, drive on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Personally, I don't care if it's a 3.0 or 22re, stick, or auto. I'm going to doing the same on my Camry once I get a replacement DD (Tacoma).

I'm a big fan of the 80's Toyotas, as you can see. Heck, automotively, I'm still in the 20th century.

Your thoughts?

Sounds awesome. I'm a big fan of getting old things and taking care of them well.

Cool car, I had 2.... Both GT-S's...

I still think a 2nd gen Supra (82-86) would be mint with a 7M-GTE...
