The 3.0L is slow a fact we must live with.
Thats why they swap the 3.4L in allot.

I was gonna argue with you when I first read your reply on cold air not doing much. But then reading this reply I won't...
I've seen some pretty impressive gains off of CAI, but not with out going to a header, and 2-1/4 to 2-1/2" cat-back exhaust. Because kinda like a pump, the faster (to a point) you get air in and out---the more performance. And the whole header thing is a real pain on the 3.0's... If wanting to get power out of the vehicle, its almost more economical to do the 3.4 swap.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE Toyota's, and won't trash talk them, but the 3.0 was not a strong point of quality on toyota's part. The 3.4 not only puts out a lot more power, but its also alot more reliable...
