New 1989 T4R - Help with loose Auto Shifter

Hi all,

Wanted to share my new 4runner. Looked for long time and found this opportunity from original owner. 131K miles and in pretty good condition.

I do have a problem I'm hoping someone can help me get an idea if it is a something that I can do or have to take to Mechanic?

The auto shifter is verrrrrry loose. will shift into gear but something is obviously wrong. The original owner said it has been like that for several years.

Anyway any ideas, suggestion?

Wow, nice truck now I know what mine looks like without the top on

I would say replace the shifter with a good used one, they are easy to find and not to hard to change out....Good luck

Thanks Puddydad... I'm going to give it a go. Will let you know how it goes.

btw I did check out your restoration and your truck turn out fabulous! Also, I think you were considering putting on a Stripe pattern. I think I would like to do the same thing. Is this something that is painted on or a graphic that is put on?

Thanks for the Info.

Thank you, she is still not quite finished The factory is decal type graphics but, I guess you could paint them on too. I bought a set of reproduction decals in silver for my T4R, I should have them soon.
