94 4Runner 3.0-Removing engine w/o tranny

Hey all, newbie here looking for advice.
Got a 94 4Runner, 4X4 auto, 3VZE sitting in my driveway that I am currently swapping out the engine. Not at all familiar with Toyota's, nor am I a mechanic, but I'm game. Question is this, is it easier to unbolt the tranny and pull the motor, or pull the engine, tranny, transfer case?. Would prefer to pull just the engine as room in the drive in tight. And if unbolting from engine is best, can someone take me through the steps?
Thanks

if its auto place a tranny mount under the transmission then unbolt the tranny and the crossmember and roll the transmission back a few inches then remove the 6 bolts that connect the fly wheel to the torque converter and disconnect all wires from transmission. this will free the transmission from the engine

OK, do you think there is enough play in the front and rear driveshafts to move the tranny/transfer case a couple of inches?, or do you think I have to drop the shafts as well.
