Transmission slip...solenoid?

Just purchased 95 3.0L with 2WD It has a A340E transmission and 217,000 miles on it. I have a question on the transmission solenoids......if one is acting up will it make the transmission slip?

I noticed today that when starting out in Drive it reved higher than normal and very little forward motion. Once I got going I had very little if any passing power. I took it out on the highway and started playing with the ECT and the OD buttons and began testing the limits of the floor board strength. All of a sudden it began to red line and no more forward motion was noted, I was only doing 50 mph. Then as quick as it started it began acting normal with passing gear downshifts, OD rpm drops and increases with the button action. ECT shifts were different with the ON-OFF of the button also.

I did notice the PO had a bit too much transmission fluid in it and I am going to pull the pan and change the filter after the valve cover gaskets are replaced.

What I want to know is...are the three solenoids replaceable as soon as the filter is dropped out of the way or is there more to it than that? Would it be worth the $138 to replace them as a set? Or do they have any effect on what I described at all? Thanks.

Need more info to determine what the problem is!

What speed is this happening at? When it happens, are you on the throttle or decelerating?

Could be a number of things, and right now I'm thinking that something is bent under there, so, was this 4runner in an accident?

Cheapest potential fix is probably the t case shifter bushings but sounds like maybe a detent in the case or something.

How do I make new post? ...Bought 95 4runner with grinding/bad transmission(A340H). Put ebay transmission in it(another A340H) and drove it 2 hours back to my house. Had to stop 4 times and cool down so A/T light would go off. Once home I put new radiator, new passenger cylinder head, new transmission solenoids and some misc.. The truck would slip in gear on inclines after 20 minutes of driving. (mechanic had told me the tranny was fine which is why I did head swap as he recommended). Note: The entire time since I got it, engine light was on and code #21 (O2 sensor or heater O2 sensor circuit) was on. After head swap and still slipping on inclines, I began to tackle O2 sensor issue...All I did was unplug upstream O2 sensor and plug it back in and a little later I went to check for codes again and now engine light was off and no codes. So now I'm back to square one, thinking the tranny is bad and the mechanic failed to see that. I guess my question is if a slipping tranny an be caused by something other than low fluid or mechanical? Can sensors or fuel issue or other cause a warmed up tranny to slip on inclines? Last night I got stuck on hill completely and it wouldn't go into gear at all. Finally, can I drive it back 2 hours to work shop as on the freeway it never slipped before? Thank you!

My first guess would be a tranny issue, but if I read this correctly you replaced it and still have a slipping problem?
If so maybe a torque converter issue? A long shot i know.
