2" lift on 2nd gen?

just curious if anyone can give an opinion on putting a 2" lift on a 2nd gen. i've just started researching and i may not be doing it right, but i'm getting a lot of different info that doesn't seem to be what i'm looking for. i found here on the forum, third post down, someone said that you can do two inches with just new springs? nothing else? i dunno. does anyone know if this is right? or what lift kits do you recommend? or something? lol thanks!!

MODS: please feel free to move to "suspension" if you'd like. not sure why i didn't post there..

yeah its right! you can rid of that nasty assdrag in the back with just new ome coils or, as i used, used land cruiser coils. check out my build thread and see! i was having the same doubts! you will eventually need longer shocks (you can get by for about a month) and some say you need to extend the brake line, but i found a way around that by cutting the bracket that had about 4 inches of unused line above it (at least on mine). did my job front and back in a night for under 400 bucks! an got about 3 inches of lift

thanks for the quick reply!! yeah, i've actually had my boyfriend look around a little [i'm still new to this so with some of the things i really don't know what to look for] and he says you can do that for the back, the in the front the differential needs to be lowered because of the way it's set up on the 2nd gen [and probably 1st i would assume]. my father is currently [as in, today, at the moment, not long term] working on my truck because i thought perhaps my tires needed to be balanced, but my front shocks need to be replaced. he says the back ones are fine [i don't have the "assdrag" lol]. i think at the moment i'm gonna go ahead and just replace the front shocks, keep on saving up my money and get working on the truck more seriously when i've got more money saved up for it, as was my original plan. just wasn't sure if it might be worth it to do the lift now since i need to replace the shocks anyway, but for now i think i'm gonna wait [unfortunately! ugh i wanna start doing real work NOW!!]. but if anyone else has more advice i'd love it!! keeping a notebook of everyone's recommendations and my research and everything so i'm prepared by the time i can actually, really start.

Try TRDparts4u.com...talk to jacque tell him Mario told you about it. I got it for $685 OME kit includes torsion bars, front shocks, rear schocks, rear springs and steering stabalizer. For differential drop and sway bar kit contact 4crawler.com he can get you both for under $100.00. You will also need panhard drop bracket from 4crawler as well. and if you want it to be perfect you'll need a adjustable panhard rod from sonoran steel so the axle lines up perfectly again.

I just did my 2 in lift from OLD MAN EMU with everything mentioned minus the adjustable panhard rod it's about $200 so I need to save some money if you want pics let me get an e-mail and I will send you pics of mine lifted.

How do you like the OME shocks? I was considering them but feared they would be too stiff for wheeling...
