Vin Number says 4 wheel drive when 2-wheel drive

I just purchased a 1990 Toyota SR5 4-Runner and I am adding it to my insurance policy. My agent confirms this vehicle has a 4 wheel drive by the VIN number I gave her but it is a 2 wheel drive. (she checked different databases.) I double checked the Vin on the door and the Title and they match.
How is this possible and can this be a mistake? I don't want to pay the extra insurance and the reason I selected a 2-wheel drive model. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to get this corrected? Or am I just out of luck? Thanks for any responses in advance.

Sounds like someone may have swapped out the 4wd drivetrain for 2wd. Don't know why they would do that though.

You just need to get it checked by your insurance co to confirm the lack of 4x4. They can't force you with the higher price based on the VIN alone.

Just have your agent look at the truck.

Have you called your local dealer? Have them run the VIN. They should be able to provide you with a build sheet.

I recall a Totoya VIN decoder, somewhere, but it's been a while since I've used it. Try: Toyota VIN Decoder @ Motoverse.com

You can try running your VIN through Toyota Parts at ToyoMotorParts | Genuine OEM Toyota Parts, and see what it comes up with as well.
