upgrading can and cants for my gen1 help please.

I have an 86 runner with the 2.2 motor and independent suspension front. I want to lift it and be able to go up trails and stuff like that. should and/or can I change the Front end and upgrade the motor to a bigger one or can I still use the 2.2 and do some thing to give me the power I need?

I believe you have a 2.4 engine, and will be good enough to go offroading.

its all in the gearing!!! ive seen motors as small if not smaller than yours "and mine" in rock crawlers with like 40 inch tires. if anyone else is a regular TRUCKS viewer and has been since atleast last summer they did a crawler on there that had a motor out of a like honda accord or some little tiny car, it did great!

Tell your friends to quit reading the magazines and get and and drive.
HUGE motors are the best way to destroy parts when you're actually off road.
