Removing center console with built-in rear heater (92 4runner)

How do you remove center console and separate it from built-in rear heater. I 've found and removed 2 bolts on each side of console. Rear heater is preventing complete console removal. Is it even possible? Thanks for any replies.

If it's like the 3rd Gen, just pull the heater knob off, for one, and you can pull the console over the knob slider. There are two bolts in the bottom of the center console, inside as well. That should do it. If it's not like the 3rd Gen, then rip it out with a crowbar.

Thanks, I was overlooking the two screws inside of center console storage compartment. That and carefully lifting up console to unattach rear heater switch connector.

On the 91 all you have to do is remove the screws on each side and i believe there may be one or two inside the top of the console itself. Afterwards, remove the little knob i believe then crawl under the passenger side because its easier to access and remove the two hoses off by removing the clamps. And thats it. Sorry its been a while since I did it and cant really remember. Hope it helps.

dehelson and nayterobertson, Thanks for replies. I only need to remove console. This info will help if I ever have issues with rear heater or the carpet.

Hello Nayte and everyone - I am resurrecting a thread from about nine years ago!! I just picked up an amazing 1992 manual 4x4 that I know I will keep forever. The motor and transmission are in great shape but the interior is gross. I guess it was left outside and the right rear window was missing so some mice or rats basically lived in it for a while. Anyway I was having trouble getting the console totally off then the tip from this thread to remove the screws inside storage compartment of console did it. But now I still am having trouble removing the black motor underneath which will need to come out to get carpet in. I can see that there are two thick hoses towards the back and that is what is keeping it there but can barely get any room to reach a tool in there. How can I disconnect the hoses in a way that I can reconnect them? Thanks for the help. I have been browsing this forum for years to learn and I just finally signed up earlier today.
