Going to big bear 22-23

Hello everyone, I am going to be in big bear this Wednesday Thursday camping and will be doing some wheeling. I have a 92 4runner with 32 bfg Mt. I just purchased the truck about two weeks ago and would like to know if anyone can recommend some trails to ride. I guess you can say I am a beginner, since this is my first 4x4, but I have driven Other cars beyond there limits on other backroads. Also if anyone will be up there I would like to wheel with someone as I will be the only 4x4 and a buddy with a 2wd Yukon. Any info is greatly appreciated. Oh and I love this site I have been on here reading non stop for the past week. :-)

Welcome to 4runners and the site! Im a little far from big bear, but I would recommend looking up a local club.

I probably caught you too late, but I live up here.

You do need an Adventure Pass if you intend to park anywhere on any of the trails. Your campground host can usually sell you one. I think it's $30, but you can get a second one for only $5 more, so split it with your buddy.

The best place to start is anywhere north of the lake between Fawnskin and Big Bear City.

There are a ton of trails. You should be able to find a free 4x4 tail map at 7-11 or a few of the local gas stations. For future use, you can download it here:

http://backcountry4x4.com/files/Big_...l_Map_PDF2.pdf

This give you a great idea of what is up here and the difficulty of the trails.
