I apologize, this is not really tech. Can someone tell me the Toyota part number, or even provide a link, for the manual transmission input shaft seal, for my '87 SR5 non-turbo W56-B. I haven't had luck confirming it and want to make sure I get the correct one.

Big bang and screeching metal on metal sound?
Big bang and screeching metal on metal sound?
I have a 94 4Runnner. Today O was urning around on a logging road in the Idaho wilderness. After backing up in a turn around I pulled forward intending to then back up. As I pulled forward a loud 'BANG' followed by screeching metal on metal.
The motor running fine, transmission working I backed up and drove back to camp about two miles. It did not overheat, oil pressure fine but the power steering was gone.
Got to camp looked under the hood to see the fan assembly separated from the motor. All the belts were in tact. What happened? Can anybody tell me what broke. Was it the bracket or something else.

Eliminate turn signal in stock bumper
I'm bolting up a trail gear tube bumper to my 1984 Toyota 4Runner, my dilemma is that the stock bumper is equipped with turn signals and obviously the tube bumper is not. How can I eliminate those turn signals? I disconnected them and tried a jumper thinking that if I completed the circuit it would work but no luck. I've seen people mount those extra turn signals in their grill but I'd rather just eliminate them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

2nd gen service manual.
I have a 1994 3.0TD manual transmission 4runner.
I am looking into doing some tinkering. Fixing small issues. Can someone link me the FSM? Are there any books I can buy other than second hand FSM from ebay?

There are two main companies that publish aftermarket repair manuals, at least here in the States, that's Chilton and Haynes. I don't know if either of them makes a manual for the turbo diesel though, they're both US companies and we didn't get the TD here.

Thanks. I ordered a Haynes manual. It has mixed reviews but I will give it a shot. I won't be touching anything engine related any time soon. If I need it I have the engine service manual as a PDF in my google drive.

Hi all
Probably the wrong part of this forum to post for advice but im new to this site and useless with technology so bare with me! Just got a 1993 2.8l 4 runner, having a few issues, engine starts, idle moves from 500rpm to 1500rpm for a minute or so, chugs out a load of white smoke then cuts out.
Currently gravity feeding fuel past filter as I thought the fuel pump was knackered, (I now know there isnt a fuel pump in the tank). Truck has been sat for 5 years, oil and filters changed, how do i get the ****er to run?!
Cheers in advance!

Well, my 4runner needs a few things.
First and foremost, a water pump. I already have the part and I also have a timing belt. My coworker and I are planning to do it soon. We're also going to do cam seals and a timing seal. (Oil leaks)
It needs a power steering pump, a new exhaust system, and interior overhaul, a new shifter assembly, and CV boots. I imagine maybe a couple more minor suspension pieces, but the pitman arms look new, possibly some steering linkage.
Any good guides out there are appreciated, any good parts sources out there are also good.
I know about eBay, amazon, rockauto, and I downloaded the autozone app because it has repair guides for a lot of things, but some of them are very vague. My local auto parts store has a contract with the NTB I work at, so I get a parts discount. I'm not sure they carry everything I need though.

Weatherstripping for Side Windows???
Hi, everyone. Does anyone know where I can purchase weatherstripping for the side sliding windows for the firstgen 4Runner?
I tried everywhere I can think of and its been discontinued. I'm restoring my 89 DLX and got all new weatherstripping for the front door windows, runs and weatherstripping for the doors.
Thanks so much!
