Engine swap Question..does L6 engine fit into 1990 Hilux/4runner
Has somen swaped a inline 6cyl engine into 1990 Hilux/4runner ?
Will it fit?
I can have a inline 6cyl nissan patrol 2.8 TDI engine for good price.
I think it is a good engineswap to get rid of the thursty v6.

Go at it with a tape measure. Thats not a common motor for us here in the states. But in the past, when people put inline 6s in, there is usually some fire wall "adjusting" that has to be done. Or run your radiator some where else.

No wonder your v6 is thirsty... What are those tires? Like 500 pounds each?

Yeah it will be a fun project.
I got i Snowmobile trailer on 35"s.
Some measurements i did
Engine
bellhousing -> front of the timebelt cover 70 cm / 27.6 in
bellhousing -> front of the Engine Dampers / Pulleys 75 cm / 29.5 in
bellhousing -> front of the fan 82 cm / 32.3 in
Truck
Firewall -> "Radiator support " 84 cm / 33.1 in
I think i need to delete the stock fan and add one or two electronic fans in front of the radiator to push air throo..
If i do that i get 9.1 cm / 3.6 in to play with..
And some HP as the stock fan steals some..

Lowrange off-road had a show and shine over this last weekend. While there I saw a first gen runner that had a turbo supra motor swapped into it. Pretty slick looking, looked like it belonged there. He said though that it had a tendancy to snap axles because of the extra torque, can't remember what he swapped in for the axles. Keep us updated, looks good.

Love the runner, can't wait to see the engine outcome. Also love the 3000GT parked next to your 4R in the last pic.
