Starting for the first time in 10 years

Ok so my dad gave me his 91 4runner as long as I got it out of his garage. I had it towed to my place where I'll finish the body work on it and make it my new work vehicle. Here is the problem it hasn't been started in a little over 10 years. I've done some research on the web and found a few lists of things to do but I wanted to get this groups input specific to this year 4runner. Here is my plan of what to do so far:

Drain Gas
Change Oil
Take out spark plugs and put some machine oil the heads and let sit overnight
Put in some ethanol free gas with injector cleaning additive
Fill the radiator
Replace battery (Done)

Try to start it up!

Assuming it starts up take it to local lube shop and have them do all the fluids except the oil that I'll already done myself.

I should also mention it was running fine when he parked it.

Please let me know if I'm missing anything

Thanks in advance.

The protective oil film will be pretty much gone from every internal surface of the engine. You need to try to restore that film as much as possible before actually running it. I would suggest, while you have the plugs out, putting a wrench on the crank bolt and turning the engine a few times to get everything unstuck. Then, again before you put the plugs back in, crank it with the starter for a minute or two to build oil pressure and let lubrication flow before you actually run it.(Pull the EFI fuse while you do this to keep the injectors from spraying fuel and the ignition from firing.) Finally, put the plugs back in, replace the EFI fuse, and try to start it. If/when it starts, let it idle for a good 5 minutes before racing the engine at all.

Update

It didn't start. I'm pretty sure it's just not getting fuel because when I sprayed starter fluid into the engine it started to run.

Next step is to figure out if the fuel pump is working does anyone have any suggestions?

I too am in the process of getting an old rig running after sitting in a field for a little over a decade. Mine is an 86 tho.

Did you ever get yours running? What was the issue? Anything else you would recommend doing before starting it?

I kno the years are different, but so far I have pretty much the same idea
