Lock old threads
Can we get threads that are over, say 3 years old locked please? It's ridiculous when some noobie responds to old threads. Just saw one where the thread was from 2009 and someone just responded to it.
These forums really need better maintenance and moderation for shit like this.

the site is rife with them...

Bots would be yet another reason to lock older threads.

"Search button is your friend"
"Don't revive old threads"
"This has already been covered "
Heaven forbid a newbie (like me) has a question that wasn't covered or was unclear. I see this dichotomy on nearly every forum.

Newbie having a question is fine. This isn't specifically pointing the finger at newbies or anything else you mention here. This is about locking threads that are so old, your grandma was a young lady when they were posted. Even a newbie with a question doesn't need to respond to those threads and drag that shit up again. It's fine keeping them for reference but they shouldn't be able to be posted to.
You got over 200 posts, you are familiar with other forums besides this one. You aren't a newbie except to the 4runner platform. That's not what this thread is about so you can get off the soap box.

I don't know how I feel about this. I have a 4th Gen '07 and sometimes there's info buried 10 years back that is useful to me and I want to get more information on from the original OP or other people that are subscribed to the thread. Would you rather I start a new post or keep the topic going so that someone else who stumbles upon the forum and thread might get the answer they are looking for. It's not like we have topics that are outdated. Some owners probably have 1st or 2nd gen that have content in threads dated 20 years ago (I've been here 17, so maybe?).
Oh and this thread is almost 3 years old... maybe I should start a new one to discuss? LOL
