Malware link

I was reading a thread entitled (I think) "Repair Manuals" that was started by a person wanting recommendations on manuals that had good pictorial content. I can't find the thread now. A few posts after the OP there was a post that that had a response like:

"Like this?" followed by a link that was like Engine

I clicked that link and ended up with one of those stupid pseudo-ransomware warnings that my computer was locked, don't touch anything or you will die, call Microsoft at this number. I couldn't get rid of the pop-ups so I re-started my computer and all appears well.

I just wanted to let everyone know the little info I can recall about this - hopefully no one will hit that link and get scammed.

I recommend you do a system restore using a restore point dated prior to your problem. If your system restore has been turned off then that's a reason to worry.

Malware can be planted and not become active for weeks. If they can't delete your restore points then they plant the virus to turn off system restore and go active after something like 30 days.
better check.
