So what would it do?
Would it be available for Android?

I would pay up to $4.99 for a T4R app
I've spent more on less useful apps...

This has actually been brought up before:
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/softwa...phone-app.html
but the mods closed the topic without addressing the question.
Copied from Tapatalk.com:
"Tapatalk is a forum app for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia. The app provides super fast forum access to any vBulletin, IPBoard, phpBB and SMF forums that have activated Tapatalk. Forum owner can download the free plug-in to activate Tapatalk in your forum."
Can the mods and admins look into this? If $$$ are the issue, bring it to the forum members and see if we would be willing to subsidize it.
Don't just ignore the posts...

I would love a T4R app, I know there was another thread about this and a guy said he would work on one, but I havent seen it in awhile,

Let's not turn this thread into another about the virtues and market share of one smart phone vs another.
Instead, let's focus on the subject at hand - we need an app for mobile access.
The answer that was given by mods/admins a while ago that vBulletin does not support mobile function is no longer correct. The only reason that may preclude us from having this app is the cost. And as I suggested in the previous post - find out how much it is and let the forum members decide if they want to pay for it.

Blackberry on it's way out? Where did you get that info. Blackberry still has a strong hold on their part of the market.
Would this app be faster than just surfing the internet? I can look on this forum without much hassle on my Droid.

It would be quicker and generally more iPhone friendly.
One thing I notice that annyos me about using the forum on my iPhone is when I'm typing in a text field, I can only scroll the whole window, not in the text field...so finding the right spot is impossible, especially if you use the "quote" link

Yeah, generally, these forums are formatted for larger screens and not having a "mobile" version means you have to download more data to your phone to get the page to show up, then after it renders the whole page, its not formatted for such a small space so you are constantly scrolling/zooming in/zooming out, etc.
when you do an app, you basically make a format and then tell the data to fit inside the format, it means you only have to download the text from the website and it fits in the "container" of the app.
also, with an app, u can build a script which logs you in automatically, just like your facebook app always seems to stay logged in. because mobile browsers jump IP addresses so much, its a pain in the butt to log into forums like this every 5 minutes.
basically, just think of your facebook apps for iphone/droid/blackberry, all it is doing is pulling the info down and throwing it in a preexisting format that doesnt have to be dowloaded. saves time/data/ etc.
