BAD 4 Wheel Parts walk-in experience!

I had the non-pleasure of being treated like a some sort of scam artist at their Carson store (at the warehouse). They recently mailed out a coupon for a "free" receiver shackle so I thought "What the heck", cut out the coupon and stuck it in my wallet. Later in the day I drove over there and looked at a number of items before approaching the counter.

"Jeff" the Store Manager seemed unhappy that I was there and kept demanding that I show him the whole flyer and that I was supposed to surrender any other coupons on it. I told him that I didn't have it so just give me a form and I'd sign away my rights to the other goodies since they already had my address.

While I was filling out their silly form I attempted to ask about some exhaust tips there and his answer was to pull out a minimal catalog and drop it in front of me. I asked about suspension lifts and he told me to log into Fabtech's web site!

Rather than give me one of the receiver shackles in the store he made me walk around to the very back at the warehouse Will Call where the Surly-Sloppy Gang Clerks had no interest in getting anything, only spoke in grunts and took about ten minutes to amble around the warehouse to get my "free" goody.

I got back to work and sent an e-mail to the "President's E-Mail" and related my experience and subsequent decision to buy anywhere but there. I gave them an estimated total of the suspension and tire items I could have bought there just to rub in the lost sales.

That is why 99.9% of everything I buy is through the internet. Best price, plus you don't have to play games with disgruntled employees. What happened to customer service in this country?

Internet or in person, you can find bad service anywhere. It is up to the company as to what they choose to deliver. Our choices are to stop doing business with the bad ones and give the good ones our business. I do agree that the internet makes it easier to shop and save money.

FYI: No response from 4 Wheel Parts yetand not that I expect anything from them.

My only experience with the company was buying my daystar lift through them, over the internet. No complaints, but that was an simple transaction. If you do some searching, you can find some threads about other people who have issues with the company on this board.

I am in no hurry to use 4 wheel parts again either.

I called in an order for a bikini top for my Jeep and got a run-around because my ship-to was different from my bill-to address.

Five hours and four phone calls later, I kept getting transferred back to the same guy who wanted me to call my bank and have them inform him it was ok to ship to a different address.

I finally called and demanded to talk to a supervisor, NOT this dude as I needed to cancel my order, I was going to call Quadratec or 4WD Hardware (both EXCELLENT companies to deal with!) for my $50 top. The guy I got this time apologized and sent me the top free next day UPS. I was happy with him, but I'll probaly not order from them again.

I just had a lot of mods put on my 04 T4R last weekend at 4 Wheel Parts here in Raleigh, NC and had a great experience with their utmost professinalism and know how. Everything I purchased from them, they price matched from quotes I printed out from the internet. And the service done by Nick at 4 Wheel Parts was the best I have ever had when dealing with off-roading shops.
Not all 4 Wheel Parts store are bad and in your case you just did business with a bad store. If anyone ever needs anywork done on their 4x4 and in Raleigh, NC see Lee (manager) and Nick (technician) at 4 Wheel Parts. By far the best I've dealt with.

I had similar experience with the store in Santa Ana/Tustin. I am a business owner. I understand why it happened that way. Due to bad economy, business owner try to cut cost and hired "lower pay" employee. They don't understand the important of customer service. Customers are the one to pay their salary.

At my office, we stress the important of customer service. There were many times I took lost on the transaction to make customer happy. 80% of our new business are from refers.

I have been dealing with the local 4wheelparts store here in downtown Dallas for a couple of years now and have had nothing but positive friendly service. Anytime I order from them on the internet, I have it shipped to this store for pickup, which makes shipping free. But from what I hear from members of my local wheeling group, the 4wheelparts in a couple of other locations in the Dallas area are a bunch of a**-holes, ...., so it just shows that any company can have good AND bad customer service. As was said, if you had a bad experience with a particular store, then you have the choice to shop elsewhere, and it is THEIR loss, not yours.

I stopped in at the store here in Sacramento to ask about the availability of leveling kits for my truck, by the time I got out of there, I was pretty much told my XREAS system was no good, needed to be replaced (at no time did they even look at my truck) and they didn't sell lifts for the 4Runner with XREAS, even though their website showed they did, I won't be back

It's sent to call center overseas where labor is cheaper and the operators support more than one company.

I agree with Manhunter, I also shop at the one here in Dallas and they have been the most helpful and professional, I just bought a 8000lb winch from them this past weekend too. I know I dont spend very much money with them (just by looking at the trucks in the parking lot) but I think they do a very good job at helping everyone get what they need no matter how much they are spending that day. For me, (and Im sure a lot of us), just forking over the dough for new tires is a huge thing, and I appreciate their patience when I am test fitting them too!

I cannot comment on the other stores here in DFW but the one downtown has been great!

I had them to get some parts for my 4Runner lift kit cause I was missing some pieces. Took them forever to get them in. Said at first it was going to be a week or so, and after that week I called back and then they said another 2-3 weeks.

Yes there are good people that work there I.E. Nick and Lee. Do not deal w/ John. Called the other day to order some Polyurethane bushings for the upper and lowers and said to call Napa or CarQuest. Then they have to order them in and said a week to get them here. We will see it will be a week on monday or tuesday. Told him I was needing them and he said to call back to place order. No take the order on the phone. Prob will not do anything else w/ them just cause of one douche
