Manhattan Beach Toyota (Los Angeles)
Picked up my 2011 4Runner. I always have a bias walking into dealerships because most of them give off the typical salesmen vibe. I did my transaction through Jeff, which was pleasant because it was a younger guy that I could relate to. It did ease my nerves a bit because it was easier to connect with him on a personal level. Unfortunately, he didn’t know anything about the car and didn’t really sell to me, which is fine because I knew I wanted the car and was getting a hell of a deal on it. I didn’t have to negotiate much because of a dealer advertising error (lucky me). Jeff and his manager Ernie did spend a lot longer in their office than necessary, and it was a little frustrating because we already secured the deal at a price that wasn’t going to change.
Finance was quick too. I worked with Hector and told him I don’t want anything you’re going to try and sell me – just sign the paperwork. It was a no BS interaction and got everything done in 15 minutes. I was in and out of the dealership in about 2.5 hours. They washed the car before I left the lot, and Jeff offered to explain any features to me before I drove off. I asked him a couple of questions about the nav system, but he wasn’t really sure so I figured I’d learn about it eventually throughout ownership.
I don’t have much to say about the service department, except that I’ve worked with Carl on both my interactions there and really enjoyed him. He’s friendly, charming, polite, and oddly enough, calming. I much rather prefer dealing with him than anybody else lol. Wouldn’t mind if he was responsible for the sales, finance, and service with me.
All in all, good experience. Nothing over the top, but not a scammy and shark ridden staff either.
