AVOID Atkinson Toyota in Bryan Tx

Complementary 1 year oil change - Dealer did not install filter O-ring correctly resulted in a leak, had to return to dealer next day, all in all I sat in the waiting room for 3 hours and spent over an hour driving back and forth to the dealer.

Complementary 2 year oil change - My wiper blade was damaged during this service appointment so the blades were marked as needing to be replaced.

I put 40$ Bosch blades on the day before, tested and they worked great. I then used these wipers at about 7:30AM when there was glare from the sun on the way to my 8AM appointment. I do not know how or why my wiper blade was damaged at this oil change appointment but it is still highly frustrating. It appeared as if someone warped the rubber in the center of a blade resulting in a 3" wide non contact point/streak going across half of the windshield in the center of the blade.

Initially I thought I was being scammed out of wiper blades given my experience with car dealerships. In the end I discussed this with the management and feel confident that this probably not what occurred. However I still believe it was an intentional action by the technician. It seems no matter the dealership, the people responsible for performing these basic maintenance tasks are low quality *******s

Dealership oil change techs get paid 9 to 12 per hour to start out.

Or they are paid .3 @ 18-20 per hour to change your oil. Either way, he's making between 5 and 12 bucks before taxes to change your oil. The list of things required to check and service during an "oil change" has grown to a list of 40 items, but you expect a "technician" to look over all those items carefully in 12 minutes?

It's just not possible. If you want good service, stop using the quick lube at the stealership. Only go there for warranty service, and find a local Toyota focused garage to service your vehicle. You WILL pay more than the Quick Lube at the Stealership, but you won't get ripped off in the end.

Lul???? I could not care less what the techs make changing my oil. They are paid to do a job a monkey could do and still manage to screw it up both times. They had the car for 2-3 hours each visit, they had plenty of time to get their shit done. I do have a problem with incompetence but can forgive it. I can't forgive dishonesty as easily and that is why I reviewed this dealer. I believe it was an intentional act to destroy my new wiper blade.

These service appointments were free and complementary so the rest of your response is irrelevant. I do not pay any mechanic, dealer or not, to do any type of work on my car outside of warranty or complementary. One would be surprised how quickly a 4 post lift will pay for itself by doing all work on your vehicles.

Only if your time is worth nothing are these services truly free.

It's taken me a numbers of years to figure this out and realize there are times when spending some money makes way more sense than getting "free." YMMV.

Good luck,

Eddie

You said it, I have a bout a 30 minute commute so I spent the good part of probably 12 hours with these little "freebies". sure puts things into perspective!
