Lonestar Toyota Lewisville TX
For those that go to the stealership for service. I promised the service director at Lewisville Toyota I’d be sharing a lesson they taught me. Might be common knowledge to most folks but here it is.
lesson learned: If you go to the dealership for scheduled service, especially Lewisville Toyota, just be sure you have your maintenance schedule in hand. That little book tells you what the Toyota engineers recommend be performed at each service interval. If the service advisor mentions doing something above and beyond what’s in the book, then open your book and ask WHY while pointing to the page. These are usually up-sale attempts and may be misrepresented to you as being the factory recommended service specs while it’s actually a dealer recommendation to, you know like, make more money. I buy Toyota’s because they are tough and maint is minimal, so I try to stick to doing only what the Toyota gods mandate in the manual. Changing nearly every damn fluid on the truck at 30k miles isn’t recommended in the manual. I know some of you go above and beyond the service schedule for peace of mind and that’s totally cool but deception from the dealer service counter is not cool.
For the record I was offered a discount on my service but there was no contrition from the service director so I would expect the up-sell tactic to remain in full force there.
