Larry H. Miller Toyota, CO

Since i happened to be close by the dealership, i went to Larry H. Miller Toyota to have them swap my OEM pinkish taillight with the new OEM LEDs. Hope someone in that dealership reads this. Here's the conversation:

Advisor: How can i help you?

Me: Yes, i bought new taillights and i'd like to have them installed.

Advisor: Do you mean the little light bulbs?

Me: No, the taillight assembly.

Advisor: Let me see what you got?

Me: (*thinking, do you think i'mma install some ghetto aftermarket taillights?) I opened the hatch with two oem LED taillights still in the box.

Advisor: Oh these are different ones.

Me: Yeah, i see. I guess Toyota gave me the upgraded ones. hehe... But I know they'll fit b/c my t4r friends have 'em.

Advisor: Okay, it'll be $50 plus tax.

Me: What? Are you kidding me? How hard is it to take off two screws on each side, unplug the connectors, take the old taillights out, put the new taillights in, screw it back up and put the two connectors back together?

Advisor: It'll take us a minimum of 20 minutes on each side. So $25 for each side. I'll need your vehicle for about 40 minutes to an hour. And we can start on it right now.

Me: Are you on crack?

Advisor: $50. Take it or leave it.

Me: I'm outta here.

If he offered $20, i would've let him. I got home and it took me less than 15 minutes to get both of 'em done.

No offense, but why even bother to ask them to do it? Especially when it IS so easy, as you found yourself. I'm suprised they didn't tell you it'd be $100 to do it.

I hate dealerships. I went in the other day to get a fog light switch and they weren't very helpful. Acted like they didn't even want to help me.

Then I called another one. Gave the guy the part number and he said it wasn't even a part...I told him to try again. Sure enough it worked.

I was messing around with him. haha.. I was just happened to be across the street from them @ Sonic enjoying my slurpee so i thought to swing by. Normally, i'd call for an appt since they service my 4R ever since i bought it so i assume everyone over there knows me. I wasn't expecting a noob b/c most of the advisors knows me except for this one. Since we all know it's only a 15-minute job, i wouldn't expect to be charged $50. With all the 15-minute jobs i've asked (lubing moonroof, replacing wiper blades, adjusting footbrake, tightening up something underneath, or something simple in that nature) was FREE.

I remember that when i was in Cali when i had my Honda Accord V6 2-door and i got quoted $180. They claimed that they had to take off my compartment and all the vents out just to get to the cabin air filter.
