BT35-TOY: Help needed - it can't sound this bad...

I couldn't find any reference to the new BT35-TOY on the forum, so hopefully I'm not asking a question already posed by the members here.

I just installed the BT35-TOY and everything went quite smoothly. I have a 2004 T4R with the 10-speaker JBL stereo system (still all stock components). The BT35 plugs into the stereo in the back and uses the CD Changer input option in the stock JBL HU. No issues with it connecting to either the stereo or my various bluetooth devices (iphone4 and ipad2).

The stock HU isn't a great sound-generating maching, by any means, but it at least provides a decent output when playing CDs. To get some comparisons, I played the same songs on a CD and via bluetooth iphone4 thru the BT35. The CDs were played at volume level 45 with surround on, and you can hear a full stage plus decent bass response from the sub.

However when playing the music from the iphone4 via the BT35, I had to turn the stereo up to volume 55 to get the same level (not a big deal), but had HORRIBLE output quality. Absolutely no lows, muddy mids, and peircing highs. The overall sound has a very slight echo to it - I want to say it seems like it is being treated as a "mono" signal perhaps...

I changed the HU settings (surround on/off, bass mid treble, etc). I also changed the iphone4 in settings to play with the various EQ options. Nothing got it even close to the CD's sound quality.

For $150 I'm absolutely not keeping this device - I'd never listen to it. However it could be someting I might be able to change (especially if its acting like a mono input)...

Any experts out there able to help out? Much thanks!

I think the issue is that you are playing audio over BluTooth. This almost always results in sh$t quality sound.

BlueTooth is not a good technology for high quality sound. I don't care what the BOX says. It is low quality compared to even a 128kb MP3 read from a CD or direct line input.

Ditch the blueTooth and get and aux-in.

I totally argee and understand what exactly you are saying!

I bought this BT35 thing from ebay. The sound quality drives me crazy when I drive. When I am turning on my gps. It sounds like there are two voice telling me instructions instead of one. I am going to make a youtube video and address this problem to the public.

Like i said it is a tech thing.

BT as a technology was never designed for high quality musoc transmission.

ALL BT devices will sound crappy but some worse than others.
