Thanks iForce for the reply, is there another thread that talks about the on/off switch, and how to install it.
Thanks

Yes.. and no.
No you won't drain the battery if nothing is plugged in to use power (just like the "old" days with cigarette lighters.)
Yes if, as iFORCE said, you keep something large on (not a cell phone.)
I was originally thinking of doing this mod by powering the relay from a switched circuit using a new switch in the dash. This can be done but I don't have a personal need to switch the circuit on & off so I just did this mod by removing the relay and jumpering it.

Kind of the same thing.....what about if you don't have the plug in inside the arm rest. The 110 standard plug with the inverter, can this be added later? I think this is standard on the limiteds?

Does anyone have any knowledge about how to add an in-dash switch to the system?
Do you just switch the jumper? or is there a better way to do it?

No, DON'T switch the jumper. You risk overheating the wires and melting things. Switch using the original relay you pulled. This would involve custom short "pigtail" wires. I'm not sure if there is enough room behind the dash to fit this.

I haven't done this myself (I don't have a need to; maybe in the future) so I don't have specific directions. I don't even know if there is enough room to fit this once you put the junction block back into the dash. Could be tricky. My main concern would be with live wires vibrating loose in an enclosed space.

battery hooked up and accessories
After the mod is completed and the battery is hooked back up, does this affect the operation of anything like the compass, Homelink, or moonroof? Does anything have to be reset? Thanks for your help in advance.

I didn't disconnect the battery first (I thought of it as I disconnected the first harness) but I noticed two things...
I had to "normalize" the driver's door window switch. Just hold the switch in the full up position 2 seconds or so. It's explained in the manual along with some other things to watch for after disconnecting the battery.
Also, note that the compass/automatic rearview mirror stays powered all the time after the operation.

FIRST: Thanks Kmvreter for the great write-up! I love this mod.
My only minor addition to the thread is that I took the original relay, wrapped it in a small baggy and zip-locked it to the new jumper. I'll always know where to look for it if I should ever need it.

Search over at yotatech.com. I'm sure I saw it over there on a 3rd Gen.
