Parking Brake Wire Location

Does anyone know where the parking brake wire location is? Need to run my parking brake wire for my new navigation system. Not doing the bypass so looking for the location of this. Thanks

Driver's kick panel, remove it. Light green wire, BECU, Pin 2

See my finger? the upper most light green wire. As you can see, I tapped it and CONFIRMED its the parking brake sensor. My NAVs "service menu" detects it when its on/off. Hope this helps you, good luck!

What's that bare red wire over to the left of the finger?

That is the VSS signal wire. Red with yellow stripe. I tapped it for the NAV. I took this picture BEFORE I soldered and taped it up.

Thank you CookieRoe, you saved the day for me, I could not find this wire following technical diagrams.

Glad I could help! Wiring diagrams (Schematics) are very helpful, but never say physically where they are. Usually not difficult to track them down. Anyway, interesting to see that an 08 fuse box/wires are the same as a 05s.

Hi to both of you !

Are you sure the bare wire is the VSS ?

In the kick pannel, according to the color, I thought the Red-with-yellow-stripe on the 16-pin-plug would be the reverse signal...
Regarding the VSS, I was rather looking for a smaller purple + red wire

(in the enclosed pic from a OEM Nav HeadUnit, you'll see the 3 colors of the REVERSE / VSS / PARKING BRAKE. My OEM is a non NAV, non JBL, and I'll do the install of my Pioneer 7200NEX as soon as the weather is getting better)

Thanks !

Ummm, the bare red wire is the wire I attached to the VSS (red/yellow). This wire I ran to back of the NAV unit. I only had red wire on me at the time. Important is to note to WHAT it's connected to.

Thanks for replying so fast

Sorry for the misunderstanding : I knew the red wire was connected to your HU (that's the wire you have tapped into the "red+yellow" wire), but I was questionning the purpose of the red with yellow stripe wire...

Oh, my bad.

VSS: Vehicle Speed Sensor. It basically carries the signal of how fast the vehicle is traveling. It is VERY IMPORTANT for (some) GPS/dashMounted units to know this information. For example, if the VSS of the factory NAV isn't connected, the unit doesn't tell you what road you are on, destination mode is quirky (I can't remember exactly how), but it WILL tell you where you are b/c of the GPS antenna. It helps GPS locate you with more precision. On some GPS devices, it's not necessary, but in others it is vital.

Hope this helps.
