2005 sr5 stock speaker replacement options

are in a dilenma..trying to replace the stock speakers in my 05 sr5 4runner..installed the pioneer avh4400bh headset, it sounds ok..but not awesome...researched and most peeps say i need to change the stock speakers to 6x9''........that an amp is optional..........am wondering if i also need to install a sub for maximum effect...

learnt also that i only need to change the front if my budget is tight.

note: i gat the 3rd row option, so space is really a major drawback

plan a: Amazon.com: Pioneer TS-A6964R A-Series 6"x9" 3-Way 400 Watts: Car Electronics

or plan b: Amazon.com: Kicker DS693 6"x9" 3-Way Speakers (Pair): Car Electronics

You definitely need a sub for "maximum effect' since most small drivers are not able to produce the lower frequencies like a sub is designed to do. So, without a sub you essentially will not be hearing the full range of sound that was intended in the recording. That said, you don't necessarily NEED a sub for the system to sound nice. Even though you'd be missing out on the very low end frequencies, you can still get a good sound.

Does your OEM system have the tweeters up high in the front doors? If so, you could find a component set (separate mid & tweet) and install the mid low in the door and the tweeter high all in OEM locations. Separating them is not the perfect solution to the best sound, but it raises your sound stage a bit so the music doesn't seem to all come from a lower point.

Going with component sets opens up a larger selection of speakers to think about.

ok thanks for your reply, so my best option is to install 6 x 9 components in the front replacing the stock tweeters and then probablly 6.5'' full range speakers at the back....if i still have some spare cash.

yes, my sr5 has stock tweeters high up in the door.....

this is the subwoofer i am thinking of buying..........need someone to confirm if it can fit in an 05 sr5...maybe under the seat or something............thanks.
