pioneer Avh-p4400bh install on 2003 limited

Just bought a pioneer avh-p4400bh and had it installed today and I bought the metro 95-8210 Double DIN Installation Kit for 2003-2007 Toyota 4Runner Limited but the installer said I needed a different bracket? And he also cut the center out of the bracket to make it fit? What brackets are needed? Is it normal to cut the center out? Do I Need the y adapter as well to hookup the two antennas to help FM reception?

Thanks so much.

Coincidence

I literally just finished installing the same head unit in my 04 Sport about 45 minutes ago. The place I ordered it from sent me the Metra kit and said it would fit, as you know, it does not. Luckily I had another kit from a previous install that I ordered from Best Kits. It works perfect. If you do a search on here there is another member that had this same problem.
You don't need the Y adapter.

Here ya go.
i sanded the texture off the dash kit and spray painted it flat black It matches the rest of the black dash pieces pretty well.

That install is exactly what im looking to do. I may forgo the Nav and just use my google phone.

Anyone use crutchfield's master sheet before? Is it easy to follow for a Noob like me?!

Finycus, I use the pioneer with my iPhone and siri and love it, works great. I have the phone plugged in and sitting on the fold out spot on the center arm rest. That way I can push the button and talk to siri, it works great because you use the mic from the radio and she speaks through the stereo speakers. Also with IO6 it gives you turn by turn directions, and you can play the stereo and when she speaks it overrides the stereo. Works great. If you want to see the screen you just look towards the arm rest to the iPhone, all hands free.

You can also use Siri to text, just say what you want to text, again it works great since you are using the pioneer mic.

You failed to mention the part where your turn by turn, using Apple Maps, takes you careening off a cliff.

That sounds awesome... except i got rid of my iphone and now have an android! does the 4400 still work with an android?

Also i know this has been beaten to death but anyone give me a quick answer as to whether the urban trim will work on my 06 4runner v8 sport - non jbl/rds.

I want it to look really factory and flush and not sticking out like some installs ive seen.

Apologies for the noob questions, the stereo/electronics have always scared me and this is the first time im contemplating doing it myself!

EDIT: Looks like i found the answer abt the urban trim ring looks like it would work http://www.toyota-4runner.org/audio-...ing-found.html

Nice Install

Hey, OHP, the install with the BestKit looks really nice! Question...it looks like the screen is recessed a little bit, does that reduce the viewing angle? Can you still see the whole screen from the driver's seat?

I'm thinking about getting the same stereo for my 2008 SR5 and will probably go with that kit. It says it's for Sport and Limited...anyone know if there is a difference on SR5 that would keep it from working?

Mbiker_101, how did the install turn out? Got any pics to share?

I'm curious about the same thing...would love to pull the trigger on the Pioneer 2400BT that's on Crutchfield, however I have never done a stereo install before. Is this something a noob can do, using Crutchfield's master sheet?
