pioneer avh3400bh install in 3rd gen help!!!!! weird antenna problem!

Okay so I got a new HU for christmas and I am trying to install it myself. I have done several stereos before and normally they are a breeze. This one on the other hand is the stereo from hell. I can find no information for wiring diagrams or anything. I bought a wiring harness that goes in before the amp so half of it connects with RCAs. If anyone has installed the same or similar models please send me some info so I can get it wired up correctly.

And now onto the antenna issues. My power antenna works fine but when I unplug the smaller of the 2 plugs there is no power too the deck and the speakers scream with weird noises. the deck only works with the small antenna plugged in. (tested with old deck). everything I can find says leave it unplugged its fine yet it doesnt look that way. whats the deal?

A possible Ground issue? Can you confirm you have continuity from the Radio's metal Chassis to vehicle ground W/O the antenna plugged in?

If you have a multimeter/DMM, check for "0 Ohms" resistance from the radio's metal chassis to a known-good vehicle ground with the antenna DISCONNECTED, but with the Radio's primary power harness connected...

If you show anything higher than 1 Ohm, you need to check the radio's black ground connection, and confirm it's terminated to a solid vehicle ground point...

It could be a multitude of other issues, but since the antenna is involved, a ground issue seems probable...

Woooooooooooooo!!!!

Okay so I figured it out! it was the chassis ground throwing the whole thing off. ShootMyMime helped me out a bunch, thanks again man and randyman I appreciate the info as well.

Now my only problem is I still don't know what too hook the orange and white wire for the dimmer too. any Ideas? other than that the unit works great and I really like it!

Thanks again gents for the speedy reply!
-cheers.
