Good news - skid plate arrived! Bad news - missing bolt
Hi everyone,
First of all, I have to say this is one of the coolest T4R forums I have seen. Plenty of great people and information. Well, I took the plunge and bought my first 4Runner a month ago. I just love to drive it.
Anyhoo, I was driving down 280 South towards Daly City and some gipsum or drywall was on the freeway. I tried to avoid it but another driver's tire kicked some into my direction. Needless to say a small chunk hit the bottom of my bumper and a small piece flew up just brushing the bottom of my radiator. Hence, the reason for purchasing the new 2006 skid plate.
Well, I have it open before me. However, after reviewing the included parts I am one bolt short and another one too many. The genius who packaged the hardware bag put 2 - M8 x 45mm serrated head bolts (the one you discard after installing the rivnuts) and only 1 - M12 x 1.25 x 25 fine thread bolt (crucial to attaching the brackets to the frame). Should I just hunt for an extra M12 at the local hardware store or ask for an exchange (probably reorder - another 3 days)? The reason I ask is that I am not sure what kind of material the M12 is made of or can I just find a stainless steel bolt and use that? Any response is appreciated.
**sigh** I am kinda bummed. I was all psyched up to get it home and install it only to find a crucial bolt missing.
Anyway, sorry for the first long post. I will charge up the digital camera and post a picture of my new family edition! Nice to meet you all.
