XM Module

Just purchased a 2006 V6 4wd Limited. My dealer says the XM module is $485. Anyone know what's involved in the installation and if you can purchase this module from one of the discount acessory dealers found on the board?

I really miss my XM.

Thanks

Yes, I did some searching and found that post. I'm not clear on how the installation works or maybe haven't found the post of a Terk install yet. :-) I'm not realy fond of the aftermarket adapters that some sell, have one in my BMW M5 that's not been all that great.

Google turned up this link.

http://satelliteradio.digitalinsurre...t_decoders.php

Go about 2/3 down on the page.

XM Direct Toyota/Lexus Smart Digital Adapter

The XMDTLK smart adapter will add XM Satellite Radio to your "XM Ready" Toyota or Lexus factory radio. It requires the XM Direct universal tuner box, which mount out of sight for a clean, installed look. If your late model factory radio displays the XM Radio logo, it will be compatible with this adapter.

Features:

Allows XM service to be seamlessly installed into the interface of satellite radio ready car stereo
Works with Universal Tuner Box to control XM channels using your existing XM Ready factory car stereo control
Doesn't change your car's interior
Installs easily
MSRP: $299.99 USD Available through Toyota/Lexus Dealers

Clay, this appears to be the unit you mentioned. Terk is the maker, and the unit says it will be available through your dealer for $299. I just thought everyone would like another source showing the unit with an estimated price.

The XM RDS unit is a different unit entirely, supposedly it will work with any RDS enabled radio. I haven't seen, so I can't say how well it works.

Just go to this site. they sell adapters for toyotas for XM and Sirius. Any of the kits should work just fine, but the Land Cruiser kit comes with the roof ant which is much better looking then the windshield ant that comes on the car kits. no nead for fm transmitters or wires every where, this is easily the cleanest and easiest set up.

Thought I would dig up a very old thread. I bought a 2006 limited and it has the SAT button on the factory stereo but it doesn't work.

Is it still possible to buy an OEM part to make the satellite radio work?

I have a SAT/ NAV with sat button, you need to purchase the module (plug into the back of the headunit) for it to work. Because it is crazy old and most folks no longer have one (pretty sure it is discontinued). You can try ebay (I did with no success, but I do remember the seller wanting big money for it). Good luck
